Funny, I had a mentor (helen Dietze) that said “make an asset out of a liability”, basically make lemonade out of lemons. This painting is just that! It started out as a realistic Amaryllis, but I wasn’t happy with it. I threw water on the dye, which is a no-no, and alcohol on the dyed silk to see what would happen. Then went with the results, pushing the painting farther! This is painted on 16mm Habotai silk with Jacquard and Dupont and mounted on a 22 x 28 canvas.
